Aram Parunakyan
Reality doesn't always have the meaning that we see at first glance, making it relative. Something new can unexpectedly unfold within it. Examining details brings forth new conjectures. It is precisely reality that inspires me. Observing objects, events and people evokes emotions and provides me with material for exploring new dimensions in art.

A new series of works titled 'Silence of Noise,' in which silent passengers are 'captured' in random moments of their journeys on public transportation amidst the noise of the city and everyday life. It is a theme of the road, a journey through life and time, not just in space, where each passenger is left to themselves while simultaneously being part of the collective noise, the 'intersound' of the surrounding world. They can contemplate themselves, find themselves lost in their thoughts, or be touched by the external world that breaks through to them through rain-washed or palm-smudged sweated bus windows.
Artist statement
Therefore, in my works of this series pictured space dissolves, blurring the boundary between the internal and the external. I simultaneously depict the intimacy, solitude of the individual, their vulnerability, and their interaction with the world. Many people who have seen works from this series have said that they found themselves in one of my pieces. This phenomenon is inexplicable to me, but art has made the choice for me. Thus, in this series, the theme itself, the "blurred," ambiguous reality, dictated a transition from the hyperrealism that I am accustomed to towards impressionism.

My position towards the world is as follows: by observing reality I strive to uncover hidden meanings within it and achieve harmony. I am unequivocally against living during times of military conflict, which have also affected my homeland, as it disrupts my emotional and mental balance, hindering my focus on my work. As an artist I am interested in exploring the imbalance of reality, but it is crucial to maintain a sense of harmony in the world.
WORKS
SERIES: «North South»
We always see the situations or events in their wholeness, but viewing them in detail gives us a better understanding of what is happening and how it appears.Aram Parunakyan`s works are directed towards creating these opportunities for the viewer.

I started working on these series in 2019, back then it had already been 10 years that this road "North South" was in the process of development. In 10 years not much had been done, though huge amounts of finances were directed towards this project . This was happening just near my house, so I was the constant observer of it, seeing it not just as something happening now that needs to be stopped, but as one of many stigmas in my society. Our society is not developing because of many things like this, and all of these need to be documented in order to be spotlighted and discussed and never be repeated. In my works I don't tend to recreate the reality, or precisely document it, but more to put an emphasis on certain things by taking them out.

SERIES: «THE SILENCE OF THE NOISE»
This series of canvases, which consists of 9 oil paintings, was created during the 2022 year In the canvases, beyond the rainy, steamy window of the transport people can be spotted. The images
are descriptions of a person’s time spent in public transport. For the viewer on the other side of the glass, they create a feeling of inaccessibility to the depicted people and their thoughts. At the same time, there’s an opportunity to see ourselves from the side.

The people depicted in the works seem to be in timeless solitude and comfort. The time spent on the road is time not planned by us, time to be alone, to think or not to think and not to be obligated to do anything.

All that remains is to wait until we get close to our stop. Thus, the canvases are to some extent a summary of mine time spent on the bus. These works solve new problems in the field of hyperrealistic and photographic painting. They are reproductions made from photographs, which at some point break the rules of hyperrealistic painting and lead to the solutions of expressionist painting.
